Building What Justice Requires: Strengthening Our Hiring System for the Work Ahead

WWX17 is stepping into a new chapter. Two weeks ago, we shared the 30/90/180 Promise — our commitment to return to families at 30, 90, and 180 days to ensure needs are met, systems are navigated, and dignity is protected. That Promise is a shift from moment‑based care to continuity‑based Justice.

To keep that Promise, we must strengthen the internal capacity that makes follow‑through possible.

This summer, we’re doing exactly that.

Strengthening the Systems That Carry the Work

As WWX17 grows — from 230 people served in 2015 to 5,255 in 2025 — our work requires more hands, more clarity, and more structure. Justice is not sustained by passion alone; it is sustained by systems that honor people, protect dignity, and support the work behind the work.

One of the systems we are strengthening this summer is how we hire.

A clear, dignity‑centered hiring process ensures that every person who joins WWX17 understands our BluePrint, our voice, and the weight of the Legacy we carry. It ensures that as we expand our reach, we do so responsibly, ethically, and with the consistency our families deserve.

What Our Interns Will Build

Our summer interns will support a focused project: Remote Hiring Workflow Development.

They will help create:

  • A clear hiring workflow for three remote WWX17 roles

  • Interview scripts aligned with our BluePrint voice

  • A scoring rubric that centers fairness and dignity

  • An applicant tracking sheet for clarity and consistency

  • “Selection” and “decline” email templates that honor every applicant

  • Documentation that makes the process repeatable

This work is meaningful because it strengthens the foundation of our future model. It ensures that the people who join us are prepared to uphold the Promise we are building.

What Stays With Leadership

To protect our organizational voice and internal systems, onboarding, access, orientation, and internal permissions remain with leadership. This boundary ensures that the heart of WWX17 — our tone, our culture, our Legacy — stays intact as we grow.

Why This Matters

The 30/90/180 Promise is not just a program.

It is a system.

And systems require people who are aligned, prepared, and supported.

A strong hiring workflow helps us:

  • Grow responsibly

  • Maintain our BluePrint voice

  • Protect the dignity of families and volunteers

  • Build the capacity needed for continuity‑based Justice

This is the quiet work that makes the visible work possible.

Justice is not only what happens in the field, it is also the structure we build behind the scenes. This summer, we are strengthening both. And every step brings us closer to a model that returns, a model that remembers, and a model that honors the Legacy we carry.

Building With Us

Every system we build strengthens the BluePrint. The 30/90/180 Promise is only possible because we are building the internal capacity to sustain it. And we’re inviting our community to build it with us.
