Legacy in Action: Justice That Outlives Us

 A Reflection on the 10th Annual WayWesX17 Give-Away

At WWX17, we don’t measure impact by numbers alone. We measure it by memory. By return. By the systems we build to ensure no one is forgotten.

This December 6th marks the 10th Annual WayWesX17 Give-Away, a tradition born from the lives of Wesley and Waymond II—two brothers, two sons, whose stories shaped our mission and whose legacy continues to guide our every step. What began as a sidewalk act of love has grown into a citywide BluePrint for Justice, Love and Legacy.

Justice, for us, is not a sentiment. It’s a system.

It’s the second pillar of our Framework in Action series—following Love, and leading toward Legacy.

And this year, Legacy showed up in socks, systems, and solidarity.

Sock Solidarity: 10 Years with Bombas

Legacy means partnership. And for 10 years, WWX17 has partnered with Bombas Socks to bring warmth, dignity, and design to our unhoused neighbors. From sidewalks to shelters, Bombas has walked beside us—donating thousands of pairs that became more than just supplies. They became signals of care. Of consistency. Of Justice.  Of Love.

This year alone:

•  500 pairs were delivered to Medical City Fort Worth, launching a new partnership with Social Services to support unhoused patients

•  250 pairs were shared at Destiny Church’s Fall Festival, a new collaboration rooted in community care

•  And for the third year, we honored Socktober with Young Women’s Leadership Academy, where students learn that equity is a tradition—not a trend

•  And others agencies we have partnered with through this year and donated socks.

Bombas isn’t just a donor—they’re part of our BluePrint.

Because Justice by Design means building with Legacy.

And  Legacy means partnerships that last.

Wesley’s Diaper Pantry:  Legacy That Wraps in Care

Legacy isn’t just what we remember—it’s what we continue.

Since October 2022, WWX17 has operated Wesley’s Diaper Pantry, a monthly program providing free infant and adult diapers, pull-ups, and wipes to families across Tarrant County. What began as a partnership with JLFW Diaper Bank has grown into a system of care that meets urgent needs with dignity and design.

In just three years, we’ve served hundreds of families—because economic justice starts with the basics.

Because visibility starts with what’s often overlooked.

Because Wesley’s name deserves to live in systems that restore.

Wesley’s Diaper Pantry is more than a program.

It’s a promise.

It’s a Legacy.

It’s Justice by Design.

Hot Time in the City: Legacy That Heats the Streets

This fall, WWX17 hosted our 3rd Annual Hot Time in the City—a celebration of warmth, resilience, and community-rooted care. What began as a seasonal outreach has grown into a legacy event, where neighbors gather not just for supplies, but for solidarity.

From hot meals to hygiene kits, we showed up with systems—not just sentiment.

Because at WWX17, Justice means designing for dignity.

And Legacy means returning—again and again—with intention, reverence, and joy.

Legacy Is a System

Legacy is not just what we leave behind—it’s what we build forward.

It’s the reason we archive every flyer.

It’s the reason we document every milestone.

It’s the reason we return—not just once, but again and again.

At WWX17, legacy is architectural.

It powers socks, systems, and solidarity.

Bombas donates the socks.

Fuel the Give powers the coats, clothing, and hygiene kits that complete the system.

This year, we’re launching the $23 for 23 campaign—an invitation to give $23 in honor of the 23 minutes that Wesley lived and 23 years that Waymond lived.  This campaign will fuel our 10th Annual WayWesX17 Homeless Project Give-Away.

Because this isn’t just about one day. It’s about every return. Every restoration. Every system we build together.

Legacy means we don’t just respond to need—we redesign the conditions that created it.

We build with reverence.

We supervise with structure.

We mentor with clarity.

Justice is how we structure care.

Legacy  is how we ensure it lasts.

As we prepare for the November 11 Give-Away, we invite you to join us—not just in action, but in architecture.

Not just in giving, but in building.

The Call to Build

From November 11 to December 5, the campaign runs.

On December 6, the system activates.

Fuel the Give is a 25-day invitation to give $23 for impact, powering the 10th Annual WayWesX17 Homeless Project Give-Away and the systems that make dignity visible.

This isn’t just a fundraiser.

It’s a BluePrint.

It’s how justice is built: with consistency, visibility, and return.

This is not charity.

This is infrastructure.

This is Legacy in motion.
